BMS College of Engineering was established in the year 1946 by Late Sri. B.M Sreenivasaiah. BMSCE is one of the first private sectors in the engineering education of India. Todays, BMSCE offers 13 undergraduates and 16 postgraduate courses in emerging and conventional areas.
The college has a campus area of 15 acres which is about 5kms from Central Railway Station. BMSCE is the only institution in India, which is espoused by Melton Foundation, USA.
Currently, the college accommodates around 5000 students which is one of the largest student’s population pursuing higher education. The institute has an excellent academic training and placement cell who serves the best recruitments for students. Pre-placement training, career guidance are usually accompanied by a training programme of the institute.
Every year 90% of eligible students are placed in reputed companies. The undergraduate programme is awarded as Autonomous status by the Government of the academic year 2008-09 onwards.

1. Chemical Engineering
Department of Chemical Engineering at BMS institute was established in 1995 which offers the 4-year undergraduate degree with an intake capacity of 60 students.
Along with UG programmes, the department also runs postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes.
The UG department of Chemical engineering has received 5-year accreditation from NBA, Delhi.
The faculty members of the department are well-qualified and highly experienced from premier institutions of the country.
The department has well-equipped laboratory providing start of art facilities in the field of biochemical engineering.
The department also organizes the national and international level conference, publications, peer-reviewed programs for the undergraduate students.
2. Civil Engineering
Department of Civil Engineering at BMS institute was established in 1946 which offers the 4-year undergraduate degree with an intake capacity of 120 students.
In the year of 2008, UG program of the department has awarded autonomous status by VTU to enhance knowledge of students.

Scholarships Offered at BMSCE
1. Class of 78 Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded by BMS Class of 78 Trusts Fund to the seventh-semester students of Electronics and Electronics-Communication department who have a first class with distinction for the first six semesters.
2. Government Scholarships
The scholarships are provided to students belonging to SC/ST/OBC backward class categories. The scholarship includes DSW, DBCM, freeship, National Merit, Defense scholarship etc.
3. Huawei Scholarships for Excellence
Huawei Technologies in India has signed MOU with BMS college of engineering to provide Huawei scholarships for the engineering students. About Rs.50,000 are provided by Huawei scholarships annually to the engineering students. The Huawei scholarships are given to the 10 students who have high academic performance and require financial assistance for education.
